SOS Africa sponsored students Hazel and Karabo host a tour of the charity’s newest education centre in Gordon’s Bay, South Africa which officially opened in March 2024.
SOS Africa’s Gordon’s Bay Education Centre is the charity’s new regional headquarters and provides holistic education programmes for disadvantaged children from the Helderberg Basin each weekday afternoon. Building work and refurbishment carried out on this exciting new facility was part-funded by a livestream fundraising event hosted by Minecraft celebrities Rendog, Grian, Scar and Bdubs.
The centre itself is a product of 21 years of experience and evolution and facilitates a diverse afterschool programme which includes a nutritious lunch, homework support, mentoring, counselling and tutoring. The building’s many multifunctional teaching spaces also facilitate a diverse range of extra-curricular activities including swimming, cookery, gardening, art, woodwork and music lessons in addition to self-defence and martial arts classes. Most important of all, it represents a safe environment where children can learn, grow and develop additional skills and interests to supplement their education and set them up for life.
But don’t take our word for it, enjoy an entertaining tour hosted by SOS Africa’s Hazel and Karabo which gives a brief insight into all the wonderful opportunities now available to them thanks to the opening of the charity’s new flagship education centre here in Cape Town, South Africa.
A big thank you to the video producer, Helena Krige (YeahYeah Photography).
