Sponsor Care Worker Training
SOS Africa has hosted care worker training programmes since 2022 with 52 graduates now employed within South Africa’s care industry. Becoming a care worker offers personal fulfilment, the opportunity to make a significant impact on others’ lives, and the chance to develop valuable skills. Our trainees soon realise that care work is not just a job; it is a vocation that offers personal satisfaction, opportunities for personal as well as professional growth and development, plus the chance to make a meaningful impact within one’s own community.
Since the launch of SOS Africa’s Skills and Training Academy, the organisation is looking to increase the numbers of care worker trainees enrolled to 40 each year. By sponsoring care worker training, you will not only provide invaluable certified teaching and experience, but you will fund holistic life skills programmes preparing these trainees for long-term sustainable employment. SOS Africa’s exciting new partnership with Edunova and YES also enables the charity to pay each trainee a monthly stipend throughout the theory and practical stages of their training.

SOS Africa is currently looking for funding for the next Care Worker Trainee Courses:
- £500 donation (ZAR12000 / $750) – Will fully-fund a care worker trainee.
- £5000 donation (ZAR120,000 / $7500) – Will fully-fund a cohort of 10 care worker trainees.
Sponsor Digital Literacy Training
Digital literacy is essential because it enables young adults to find, evaluate, create and communicate information effectively using digital technologies, supporting education, employment and civic participation. It is a foundational competency for thriving in a technology-driven world, enabling individuals to learn, work, communicate and participate safely and effectively in modern society.
The recently opened SOS Africa Skills and Training Academy hosted its first cohort of IT trainees in April 2026. In partnership with Edunova and YES, the Digital Literacy Programme provides 6 weeks of theoretical training followed by 6-month placements as IT Assistants in local schools and businesses. Each trainee is paid a monthly stipend and receives invaluable life skills training to help them adapt to their placements.

Sponsor Horticulture Training
Horticulture training covers core areas such as plant identification, soil science, propagation, greenhouse and landscape design and sustainable growing techniques. This hands‑on learning ensures trainees can apply theory directly to real‑world tasks, whether in nurseries, greenhouses, landscaping or community gardens. A horticulture qualification opens doors to roles in agriculture, landscape design, plant production, botanical research and environmental conservation. Horticulture also contributes to food security, rural development and environmental conservation.
Following the launch of The Skills and Training Academy in April 2026, SOS Africa is planning to introduce certified horticulture courses. Blending practical skills, environmental stewardship and personal development, they are ideal for those passionate about plants and sustainable agriculture. These courses will be split into 4 cohorts across 2 years, in conjunction with the development of the SOS Africa Academy Gardens.
Horticulture trainees recruited from local communities will benefit from bespoke courses hosted by experienced facilitators in The Academy Gardens. They will then begin practical placements in partnership with local businesses. The SOS Africa, Edunova, YES collaboration will ensure that each trainee receives a stipend throughout their placement.
