Since the very first SOS Africa sponsored child started school in January 2003, we have witnessed the life-changing impact that this process can have upon the lives of sponsored children and their families. Last week the SOS Africa staff received a heart warming message from the parent of an SOS Africa sponsored child. Her kind words demonstrate the difference that this vital support has made to her daughter’s life…
SOS Africa Sponsored Child Shekinah with her mother Patience
“Dear SOS Africa, sometimes I think I’m still dreaming, for the love and support you are giving to our family. Most things our family cannot afford. We witness joy in our child’s life each and every day when she comes back from school. Most school days Shekinah doesn’t eat dinner with us – if we ask her why she doesn’t want to eat, she says, “I already ate my lekker lunch at SOS Aftercare!” Oh, and now comes to extra work they are getting… When we ask Shekinah can you help us with the dishes, she says okay mummy I will do it when I finish my work that we get from teacher Ilenthea at SOS. When I see the effort you are putting into our child so that she can have a better tomorrow, I am speechless! And when it comes to the birthday gifts, she can’t stop bragging I can tell and testify that our daughter is in a very happy place because of SOS! We are forever grateful for what you are doing for all the children!”
