SOS Africa Charity Education Centres

Introducing SOS Africa’s current charity education projects and programmes based in Mahikeng and Cape Town, South Africa. Our UK registered South Africa based charity was first established in January 2003 by a UK gap student and local schoolteacher who sponsored the education and care of a disadvantaged boy from a local township. 22 years on, SOS Africa has established 5 education centres empowering hundreds of children and young adults through holistic education and training programmes.

Today SOS Africa operates education centres in Mahikeng, Grabouw, Somerset West, Elgin and Gordon’s Bay, South Africa. Each education centre provides support to children with learning difficulties every morning and holistic education programmes for the charity’s sponsored children each afternoon. This comprehensive approach enables each SOS Africa Education Centre to support both the most economically challenged children and students who are likely to drop out of the education system due to undiagnosed learning difficulties.

SOS Africa’s ‘Dudley Rotary Club Education Centre’ opened at Grabouw High School in 2018

Based on the campuses of South African government schools, each SOS Africa Education Centre adapts to the needs of the school to ensure that they receive the best possible support to help improve the standard of education they provide. SOS Africa aims to partner with additional struggling schools with potential every few years to expand the scope of our support across the country.
