In a bid to exceed their ambitious fundraising target, luxury furniture and lighting company Porta Romana has commissioned five leading artists and designers to decorate lamps in their own distinctive style, to be sold at Auction from 15th to 29th November 2018 to raise funds for SOS Africa.
As part of their 30th Anniversary celebrations, throughout 2018 Porta Romana aims to raise £30,000 to sponsor the construction of an SOS Africa Education Centre in South Africa. Since January, the Porta Romana staff have participated in a number of fundraising enterprises bringing them ever closer to their target, including sky dives, half marathons, raffles and auctions.
As part of their latest fundraising initiative, Adebayo Bolaji, Studio Alidad, Kit Kemp, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and design duo Turner Pocock have each generously committed to designing a one off, unique piece of art. Their team of artists, who have become accustomed to pushing creative boundaries, have embraced this challenge which perhaps pushes them to their limits as they abandon the Porta Romana handwriting, they have meticulously mastered to interpret a new method.
The sale features intricate and delicate motifs, naive yet ultra-sophisticated scenes, bold and unexpected paint effects, as well as powerful abstract art. The beautiful lamps, which are currently on display at their Chelsea Harbour Showroom, have just been listed for online auction.
