SOS Africa Beach Clean Up Day
09 Dec 2020

The world is becoming more and more aware of the devastating effects of plastic waste ending up in our beautiful oceans. So too, are our children. When one had the idea that together all the SOS Africa children would make a pretty big team to make a big difference, we agreed and set up a BEACH CLEAN UP DAY!

In November we took all our children, staff and even some parents to Strand Beach. Our remarkable team totalled 80 enthusiastic and caring citizens just trying to make their world a better place.

Here is poem written by Nikki Tajiri best describing our day and the impact it has made...
"If we make this about sacrifice
If we make this about blame
If we make this about fear
If we make this about hate
Then we will lose
If we make this about together
If we make this fun
If we make this about love
Then we will WIN"

I think it's safe to say that as well as our children working very hard to collect every bit of waste big and small; they also made time to be silly and have a splash in the beautiful blue clean sea. Not to mention a worthy feast to fill those hungry tummies!

A great big thank you to all the children, their parents and our staff for such a tremendous effort! You are all our heroes and we are inspired even more to make this world even better AND CLEANER for your bright futures.

Also a special thanks to our talented photographer Helena for capturing the moments so perfectly, as always!
