Welcome to our end of year Awards Ceremony! The children chose “Superheroes” as our theme, and it could not have been more apt as they really have been superheroes this year. It has been an unpredictable and challenging year for everyone, especially children, who have had their schooling and socialising so drastically altered and interrupted. Yet, through it all they have maintained their joyful spirits and shown kindness to one another – the true markings of a superhero!
Are you ready to see these incredible superheroes?
Their costumes were each designed and thriftily put together by themselves. They had to get creative with what they had or what they could find, and my goodness did they get creative! We were so impressed. So without further a due may we introduce you to our SUPER SUPER heroes!
First up we have our oldest and wisest superheroes from Grabouw…
Second, we have the always more dramatic superheroes from Somerset West…
And last but not least our youngest group of superheroes from Elgin…
I’m sure you will agree that choosing the winners for best costume was very difficult. Our criteria was “Costumes made from recycled or reused materials/fabrics as well as body paints and make-up.” Here are the girls and boys chosen from each group…
As this was an awards ceremony, we still had two very important categories of awards:
“Most Creative African Christmas Card”
Criteria: Originality, African-themed, colourful, creative thinking
The last and most prestigious award was “Top five Learners for the whole year!”
The criteria: 5 learners who showed the most respectful manners, kindness, commitment to achieving good results for their subjects and who had the top attendance at the centres whether during school days or during days off.
And finally, we want to thank the biggest superheroes of all… the ones who have worked tirelessly to keep the whole team together and strong; who have adapted their teaching skills to each, and every new challenge presented throughout this year; who have all gone above and beyond to ensure that our children are healthy, safe and HAPPY!
THANK YOU to these superheroes, our Western Cape Staff!!!
AND ONE MORE very important unsung hero who is always behind the camera capturing these precious moments for us to share with you all… HELENA KRIGE of Yeah Yeah Photography!
