New Corporate Sponsor to Fund Dental Treatment for SOS Africa's Western Cape Children
04 Feb 2021
We are delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new partnership between SOS Africa and the charity’s latest corporate sponsor, RoseBlanc. The Swiss-based company have just launched a new teeth whitening product with all-natural ingredients and have generously offered to donate a percentage of the profits to fund dental care for SOS Africa’s Western Cape children.
As part of the charity’s mission to eliminate barriers to learning impacting upon children from disadvantaged communities, the SOS Africa team have identified health and hygiene as a fundamental priority moving forward. In particular, good oral health care is essential in preventing infections and gum disease:
“Due to the poor standard of nutrition they received during their early development, many of our children suffer from ongoing oral health issues. These challenges not only distract them in the classroom, but they could also compromise their long-term health and wellbeing.” [Karen Damon, SOS Africa Western Cape Ops Manager]
The charity was therefore delighted to be approached by RoseBlanc and offered sponsorship to cover ongoing dental treatment for the SOS Africa children. The first beneficiaries of this support, SOS Africa’s Gideon and Karabo attended their first ever dental appointment last week to receive a full check-up followed by a filling and a tooth extraction. The relatively quick and painless procedures carried out by dental practitioner Dr Richard Young, have immediately eradicated discomfort felt by the children for some time.
The RoseBlanc are very excited by the potential impact of the sponsorship:
"We’re delighted to be supporting the SOS Africa Children’s Charity with their dental work in South Africa’s township communities. Many of us take for granted the difference that good dental hygiene can make not only to our health, but our self-esteem. We hope that our contribution can help to give these children another reason to smile."
After their appointments, we asked Gideon and Karabo to share their feelings from their first experience of a trip to the dentist and much to our surprise, they actually cannot wait to go back…
“The SOS Africa staff, children and their parents are hugely appreciative of this support and would like to thank RoseBlanc and Dental Practitioner Dr Robert Young who has offered his services at a discounted rate for all future appointments. Together they have definitely given the SOS Africa children a lot to smile about!” [Karen Damon, SOS Africa Western Cape Ops Manager]
