Dudley Rotary Club becomes long-term SOS Africa Sponsor

06 Apr 2016

A promising new relationship has developed between SOS Africa and a generous group of philanthropists from Dudley in the West Midlands. Dudley Rotary Club’s International Officer Alan Black first contacted SOS Africa late last year to enquire about the possibility of sponsoring a child in Africa through our organisation. After a brief trip up the M5 to present to the club last September, its 40 members elected to sponsor the full-time education and care of an SOS Africa child for the foreseeable future.

Dudley Rotary Club President Mike Summerfield is delighted with the new partnership: “SOS Africa attracted our attention for two reasons. The first being the support it gives to the educational needs of the most deprived, and secondly the team which leads SOS Africa. It is a pleasure to be involved with such an altruistic and young group of people who are devoting their lives to help others. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with Matt and Claudia"

A few weeks ago, SOS Africa’s Matt and Claudia had the pleasure of returning to the club to provide an update on the progress of the child now benefiting from their support and to discuss other ways in which Rotary might support the charity’s operations in South Africa, including possible involvement in SOS Africa’s exciting new Education Centre Building Project.

Matt and Claudia are delighted by this new partnership and look forward to sharing regular updates with the club’s members as their sponsored child progresses through school.
