Portsmouth Student to Cycle 10 Million Meters for SOS Africa
20 Jan 2011
My name is Greg Smith, and this year I am planning on cycling 10,000 km to raise money for SOS Africa.
FUNDRAISING TARGET: £1,500
CURRENT AMOUNT RAISED: £5 (0%)
In April i'll be setting off for a 2,700 km (1,700 mile) cycle from my home in Kent to Moscow, Russia. This trip will take me through 7 countries, require 2 visas and last around 3 weeks.
Then in June I'll set off again for a 7,400 km (4,600 mile) circular cycle around the Baltic Sea. I'll pass though 12 countries including Russia again and require a further 2 Visas. I'll hopefully be getting back on the ferry in France before September.
Both these Cycles will be solo journeys and i'll be carrying all the equipment, approximately 20kg, needed on the back of my bicycle (tent, sleeping bag, clothes, tools, food, 6L of water, spare parts, stove etc). I'll stay in youth hostels or campsites when available but most of the time ill be rough camping.
I am aiming to raise £1,500 for the children of SOS Africa. Please sponsor me, and help make this possible.
