Finger Painting Fun at SOS Africa Somerset West
28 Mar 2020

No matter how old you get it's always great fun to paint your hands, fingers or even feet to make interesting paintings! At our Methodist School in Somerset West the school had granted us use of an outside wall to paint a mural. Today was our "Practice Session". Continuing on from a sketching lesson under the trees last week; our mural was to have an environmental theme. Painting with our hands (or feet) was a way of emphasising each students direct relationship with nature.

The children were encouraged to think of recreating anything from bugs to birds or flowers simply using their hand prints...

Everyone had great fun getting their hands covered in gooey paint then squishing them against the paper.

Some experimented with painting an assortment of colours on each hand...

Some just painted their finger tips...

At the end of the lesson we all looked back at our beautiful assortment of birds, bugs and fauna... we couldn't wait to start our mural but for now, hard work deserved a delicious treat!
