Why Support the SOS Africa Children's Charity?
Given the large number of African education charities which currently provide sponsorship programmes for underprivileged African children, you may ask ‘why should I support SOS Africa?’
Here are four good reasons why we believe our African education charity is worthy of your support:
1. Minimal Charity Expenses
Whether you are sponsoring an African child, donating to our African charity, or fundraising for SOS Africa, we pledge that 100% of your donation will be invested in the education and care of the children we support. Thanks to the commitment of a vast network of volunteers, SOS Africa only employs one member of staff in the UK. This salary and all UK expenses are covered by Gift Aid and SOS Africa’s Ebay Shop.
2. Personal Approach
As the scope of support provided by African charities broadens there is an increasing danger that these organisations may evolve into impersonal corporate structures which fail to integrate all aspects of their organisation’s operations from fundraising through to the support they provide. This can make it very difficult for both prospective and current sponsors to stay connected with the charity’s work.
SOS Africa is an intimate organisation run by a close group of family and friends. If you contact SOS Africa’s UK office you will be able to speak directly to SOS Africa Director/Co-founder, Matt Crowcombe. Matt oversees all aspects of the charity’s work and will be able to answer any questions you might have about the charity and the support we provide. No matter how quickly we grow, we pledge to always maintain our grassroots, personal approach to charity work.
3. High Quality of Care
Our personal approach to charity work is also reflected in the care we provide the children we support. We ensure that our education programme is tailored to the needs of each of the SOS Africa Children. Each of the underprivileged African children under our care will receive the following support:
- Transport to and from school every day.
- A high standard of education from a well-established institution.
- Transport to the SOS Africa Aftercare Centre after school.
- After-school care including lunch, homework support, mentoring and extra-tuition and regular assessments.
4. High Levels of Feedback
SOS Africa also recognises the importance of providing regular feedback to our support base. Whether you are sponsoring an African child, donating to our African charity, or fundraising for SOS Africa, we will show you the difference your hard-earned money is making. We are able tailor the sponsorship process to the needs of the sponsor and the child they are supporting. SOS Africa child sponsors will receive:
• Termly school reports.
• Regular photo albums.
• Regular updates via the SOS Africa Children’s Blog.
• Email correspondence via the SOS Africa Aftercare Centre.
But most important of all, we make sure that all the children under our care are happy!
