SOS Africa Boosted by Pimp My Cause Pro Bono Marketing

08 Jun 2012

In recent months the overall visibility of the SOS Africa Charity has had a significant boost thanks to the professional support provided by marketing experts recruited by Pimp My Cause.

SOS Africa was first contacted by Anna Mullenneaux from Pimp My Cause just over a year ago and informed that a group of marketing experts were looking to develop a website which could provide a wide range of charitable organisations with Pro Bono marketing advice and support from experienced marketing specialists. Because of SOS Africa’s pledge that 100% of all of our donations are invested in the education and care of the children we support and the consequent limited funding we have to invest in marketing/advertising, we were happy to be involved in this new initiative.

We were unaware of how useful it would be until we approached Pimp My Cause, shortly after their website was launched, to ask for help promoting the SOS Africa website and our first official charity video. After a short discussion with the team, they put us in touch with PR and marketing specialists Barbara Coleman and Emma Conway.

Within a few weeks of working alongside Barbara Coleman, the SOS Africa website was given a complete facelift to make it more attractive to perspective sponsors. Substantial work had also been carried out on the back of the site to increase its ranking on some of the major search engines. Thanks to her efforts, SOS Africa is now far more visible than ever before and as a result we have recently experienced a significant increase in sponsorship and donations.

Despite her busy schedule, Emma Conway committed a great deal of her time to planning and implementing a series of strategies which would help promote the launch of SOS Africa’s first charity video. These initiatives included social networking and bookmarking strategies and harnessing local and national media sources. Emma also provided SOS Africa staff with various information and training on how to use YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to maximise visibility of our video.

In addition, the Pimp My Cause website has helped promote our charity throughout its first year in operation. More recently they have even included SOS Africa within in their promo videos:

SOS Africa would like to thank Anna, Barbara and Emma and all of the other individuals involved in Pimp My Cause for the invaluable support they provide non-profit organisations like SOS Africa and would encourage other charitable organisations to approach them for PR and marketing support.
